Term 4 Goals

Room 12 Term 4 Goals

After group discussions and much consideration we have come up with the following goals as a class to try to achieve this term.

·      To respect each other and their differences
·      Think ‘outside the square’
·      Allow people to concentrate on their work
·      Take responsibility – for both the good and not so good things that we do
·      Be quiet during silent reading times
·      To respect other classes and teachers
·      Make a class chant / haka
·      Make this term better than the others
·      Create a class newsletter
·      Fundraise for a good cause
·      Try to work with different people and make a new friend

Garden Growth

It looks like we will soon be able to make a salad from our Room 12 garden. The lettuces are looking big and healthy, the beans are getting tall, and the carrots are growing quickly.

GOLD!!!

We are sooo proud of Conal in our room who is the first person from St Martins School to complete his WHOLE wide reading award! Wahoo!!
Conal said his favourite book was Lord of the Flies by William Golding. He wouldn't have normally read this as the cover didn't look great!

It is exciting that our Wide Reading Award has motivated Conal to improve his reading so much.

Congratulations Conal - you rock!!!

Brave and Vulnerable

We were asked to be brave and vulnerable authors today in our writing...

The Midnight Song
Evelyn

Rain escaping the howling sky
A shiver runs up my spine
Cowering from what's lurking inside.

A song of loss comes from the clouds
Guilt snatches the light
Sun screaming from the corner.

The moon mocks all that dares to move
Commanding a storm
I listen,
A song.

A Voice
Madoka

A streak of light pours
Pours through the endless dark world
Hardly seen.

There is no will
No life
No feeling
Nothing.

A voice echoes in my ears
My heart shakes
I flee
A shadow follows.

There is no hope
No hope at all
I am trapped
All alone
I cower.

I feel fear
A voice echoes through y heart
"Beyond all the badness, there are chances."

I manage a small smile
Then close my eyes.

The Chimes
Giles

As the daft bells
Lurk into darkness
The glory drums
Come into play.

When the mayhem cymbals
Play their tune
They know it's time to fear
Time to hide.

The trumpet of triumph
Falls into its place
Silence
The bells ring again.

Fear
Alisha

Emotions fill my fear
As a shadow flickers across the room
Voices drowning me
Darkness covering my life.

Mold covering walls
Rain pours as I step outside
The birds stop chirping
The bells stop ringing
As I am left alone.

Torturing my life
Leaves float down
As the wind passes
Dark clouds head towards me.

Darkness
Emma

As a voice occurs to me
Running, I stop, freeze
The voice has come.

Darkness surrounds me
Birds stop chirping
Bells stop ringing.

From near and far
I listen
Darkness is a fear.

  Fear
Baxter

A voice follows me in my shadow
My stomach clenches
Nowhere to hide
Fear surrounds me
Mist and darkness shadow my thoughts.

A faint light through the mist
Looming
A flicker of hope
A voice appears.

More Sports Stars

Baxter played in his Canterbury rep team in a tournament in Nelson in the first week of the holidays. They played three games a day and placed tenth. Baxter played with great skill and had to live with the team for the time and learnt heaps about football as well as teamwork.

Keep it up Baxter, we are proud of you.

Happy Holidays!

I hope all our Room 12 families are having enjoyable holidays together, looking after each other, and having some exciting times. I look forward to hearing about them when you get back.

We have returned from Nelson and today Ms Saxon has had a desk move around in R12! It has been a while so we will give the new arrangement a go. Day 1 may need to begin with a desk hunt!

I look forward to seeing you in a week - make the most of your sleep ins!

Ms Saxon.
