Happy Holidays

Best wishes to all our Room 12 families for a relaxing and fun holiday together. Chris, Daniel and I are off to Auckland tomorrow for a week to see Totem, Cirque du Soleil and to visit friends. I can't wait! I look forward to hearing about some exciting holidays from you all.
Stay safe, be great!

Farewell Elizabeth

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Elizabeth. Her family are moving to Rolleston and Elizabeth will go to Clearview School from next term.

Elizabeth has been an awesome member of Room 12 - she has made great friends, made unbelievable improvements in reading this year, and nailed all her times tables.

All the best for your big move Elizabeth, Clearview School are really lucky to have you. We will miss you and know you will be amazing!

Energy Movies

We have been trying to educate others about types of energy. Here are two very entertaining movies to check out!

Top Team

Our Year 5-8s had a blast this morning rotating around 12 fun activities with a team from their house. Some got really wet at the water activities. Some found co-ordinating their jumping and stepping really hard! It was hilarious to watch some of the teams working together.

Well done R12 for having so much fun towards the end of a great term.

Maia looks like she has lost her sack race team!

Jake's team placed 2nd overall!

Huge congratulations to Finn and Louie who presented the best speeches they possibly could to our big audience this morning. Both improved their presentation hugely and really entertained the judges and students.

Finn and Louie placed 3rd=, after Molly 2nd and Lucia 1st.

Congratulations boys, I was really proud watching you this morning.

Speeches

Room 12 have blown me away.

Each year I have a class that does speeches, each year there are some pretty bad presentations. BUT, not this year!! Everyone outdid themselves with their preparation, their confidence in front of an audience, and their choice of topic.

We had people speaking about energy drinks, about tornadoes, about whales, about food, about exercise. We have been thoroughly entertained all week with wonderful speeches.

This afternoon we had a pressure cooker speak-off to select our two participants in Monday's speech finals. Paige, Louie, Isabella and Finn were fantastic and it was very difficult to choose. Isabella, speaking on energy drinks, is our reserve, Finn, speaking on a parent tranquilizer, and Louie, speaking on NZ's population of couch potatoes, will represent us.

Congratulations to you all, best of luck to Louie and Finn.

CAMP!

Wow! How can I possibly only mention a few of the highlights of our fabulous camp?

First of all, and most importantly, these kids were amazing! I can't remember having to have a grumpy word with anyone from our class. They pushed themselves outside their comfort zone, they included others, they gave everything a go, and they did all of this with huge smiles on their faces. I was so proud of them all.

Many told me that their highlights were...
  • balance bikes
  • monorail
  • flying fox
  • low ropes
  • orienteering
  • the farm visit
Night one all the children were silent by 9.15, night two we set the record by having them asleep by 8.20! They were all shattered!! We didn't stop for our three days together and we all loved every minute.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parents, we could not have done this without you.

Room 12, I told you this would be a highlight of our year together!
