"I'm doing really good at this!"

This quote came from Bonni today during maths, and she was doing some pretty tricky stuff! It made my day.

In maths at the moment we are concentrating on multiplication. Some of the class have got their basic facts times table nailed and they are racing ahead!

Yesterday our circles group learnt how to calculate their 9x tables by using their fingers. Most of them went home and taught someone last night so they really do have the hang of it.

Our triangles and squares groups have been using their knowledge of place value to do complex multiplication like:

36 x 5 =

30 x 5 = 150

6 x 5 = 30

Then adding them together to equal

180

Our squares have even got into multiplying hundreds and thousands - how good is that?!

We will learn another strategy soon so ask us about that.
