Final Writing Samples

Room 12 was asked to do their final independent writing sample of the year. We were given a picture of two labrador dogs playing with a ball in the sea and asked to describe the moment in time. Ms Saxon thought this was potentially a little boring so challenged us to be creative and think about different scenarios that could be going on.

"A delighted face stares at them before caressing their backs."

"A salty fume dances up my nostrils as the sun reflects off the sapphire blue sea."

"They lie themselves down and eventually fall into a deep sleep, eyelids fluttering ominously."

"A whiff of salt quickly fades as mocking clouds appear."

"Hours later the remains of a sea fight floats to the shoreline, motionless, immortal, frozen in time."

"Intruding wind shivers up my spine, I start to take one last look at the dogs and walk off."

"As the salty seas smell lingers above, an ominous gush of wind forces the smell to cower."

"I wake up to moonlight, debris from the wave littering the surface of the sea and Lassie lying on a log, tranquil and unmoving."


I was so, so impressed that the children were able to show their fantastic written language skill independently.
