Room 12 has been doing some exciting learning on Fridays with Mrs Gunther.
We have been creating amazing dioramas based on the book
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We read this book in Term 1 and everyone loved it! Brian, the 13yr old main character, was in a plane crash and had to survive in the wild forests of Canada. He had to build a shelter, make fire, find food, stay safe and warm. He did all this for a very long time and through the freezing winter.
Our dioramas were created using materials such as stones, wood, cloth, sticks, paper and even lego men!
We have been experimenting with light by seeing how light bends and refracts. We have learned words such as opaque, transparent and translucent. We made little kaleidoscopes and learned about mirrors.
We have also begun learning French - we began with introducing ourselves.
These children are really lucky to have a second teacher who has a passion in such different areas and is able to share this with our class.
