Today we prepared for our sailing day next Monday. We set up a boat at school and learnt how to do the basics.
We learnt heaps of new words like
- bow
- stern
- tiller
- boom
- mainsheet
- rudder
- centre board
Each of us will sail on our own in an optimist dinghy next Monday. We will have a safety motor boat with us to begin. We are really excited (and a little nervous!!) about this celebration of our great year together. Remember that we need lots of food and drink, lots of clothes (in case it is both hot and cold), our togs and towel, as well as sunscreen.
Let's have a great day next Monday!
Giles getting the hang of tacking the boat
Sam doing a great job of missing the boom with his head
Molly holding onto the tiller
Conal moving across the boat as it tacks
Sam looking a little uncomfortable while turning!
And finally (after being forced to publish this by Max!), we have Ms Saxon looking mighty uncomfortable with the whole set up!
