Sailing

Today we spent the day at Lake Rua with the Canterbury Sailing School out on the lake in optimist dinghys learning to sail. Only one person in Room 12 had sailed like this before. Everyone got the hang of it really quickly and had an absolute blast!

First we had to rig the boats up - this was a little tricky as it was pretty windy. Then we got a recap on what to do in the boats.
We all got a turn with a safety boat near us reminding us what to do.

Molly, looking like a pro, was the first brave person out on the water

The wind was pretty strong but we all got out in a number of boats and had a great time going out to the buoy and back.

Oliver enjoying a bit of wind

Sam C trying to get the rudder down

Evie having a blast

Our final activity was a boys vs girls relays (which the girls won!), followed by a Room 12 vs Room 12 relay - won by Room 12!!!

Madoka resorted to paddling once the wind dropped!

Ms Saxon was so impressed that everyone got the hang of a new activity so quickly. She also loved the way the children helped each other out getting the boats in and out of the water and making sure we were all happy and safe.

Go Rosie!!!

Yes, the Room 11 & 12 weather curse has struck again but we all had a fantastic day together!

Classic R12 happy shot!
A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who made the day possible.

Well done Team, check out the pics below.
